Pyrton Charities Trust (PCT) is an amalgamation of two charities, the Allotment for the Labouring Poor dating back to 1948, and Pyrton Poor Lands. The Pyrton Inclosure Award gave over plots of land in Pyrton parish to the ‘churchwardens and overseers of the poor’, consisting of woodland plots in Christmas Common and a field off Pyrton Lane. These plots are leased out. The purpose and object of these two charities is set out in a Charity Commission Document, 1973. The purpose of the Charity is to provide Relief in Need (to relieve either generally or individually persons resident in the Parish who are in conditions of need, hardship or distress), or for general Charitable Purpose. This includes caring for and protecting the plots of land in its ownership for the benefit of those living in the Parish, now and for the future.
The PCT is managed by 5 Trustees including ex officio Trustee (the vicar), along with two nominative trustees (appointed by the Parish Council) and two co-optative trustees which are all voluntary roles. Two ordinary meetings a year are held. Pyrton Charities Trust is registered with the Charities Commission, charity number 207180
