Notice is hereby given that due to the resignation of:
one (1) vacancy exists in the Council for Pyrton Parish
The vacancy will be filled by election if any ten (10) local government
electors for the said electoral area submit a written request for an
election to be held to fill the vacancy to the Returning Officer, South
Oxfordshire District Council, 135 Eastern Avenue, Milton Park, Milton,
Abingdon OX14 4SB within fourteen (14) days after public notice of the
vacancy has been given. In computing these fourteen (14) days
mentioned above disregard a Saturday or Sunday, Christmas Eve,
Christmas Day, Good Friday or a bank holiday or a day appointed for
Public Thanksgiving or Mourning.
If no such request is made the vacancy will be filled by Co-option by the
Pyrton Parish Council.

Please do not light garden fires during the current coronavirus pandemic. The Household Waste Recycling Centres are closed for the time being and we need you to hold material for now.
As well as the danger of the fire spreading uncontrollably, there are people in the community living with serious respiratory problems, which could be made much worse if the sufferer is exposed to smoke from bonfires.
Instead please compost your garden waste where possible, and stack or bag up rubbish for disposal when the current emergency is over.

Pyrton Parish Council, with the assistance of South Oxfordshire District Council (SODC), has produced a draft conservation area appraisal for Pyrton. We are proposing to revise the existing conservation area boundary.
You have an opportunity to comment on the appraisal during a public consultation period running from 11 July to 5pm on 22 August 2018.
There will be a meeting regarding this in Pyrton Village Hall on Monday 23rd July at 6.30pm with Samantha Allen, Conservation Officer from South Oxfordshire District Council.
The purpose of the appraisal is to define the special architectural or historic interest of the conservation area. It will support SODC’s duty to consider the desirability of preserving or enhancing the character or appearance of Pyrton when determining planning applications.

Pyrton would like to invite all relevant statutory consultation authorities and other interested parties from the wider community to make comment on our neighbourhood plan. The consultation period begins Friday 5 May, 2017 and will conclude on Friday 16 June. During this period, display copies will be available in the Pyrton Village Hall and St Mary’s Church located in the heart of the village. In addition, the neighbourhood plan can be viewed on our website www.pyrton.org by following the link to ‘Pyrton Neighbourhood Plan’.

PLEASE RESPOND TO SODC BY 17th MAY 2017
South Oxfordshire District Council’s (SODC) Local Plan sets out how development will be planned and delivered across South Oxfordshire to 2033. The recently released ‘Second Preferred Options Document’ (read it online: www.southoxon.gov.uk/newlocalplan or see a hardcopy at Watlington Library) continues to include a proposal to build a strategic development of 3,000 homes on Chalgrove airfield, creating a town the size of Thame or Wallingford.
To cater for the traffic generated development the document provides an extensive list of suggested improvements to road infrastructure, including a bypass around Watlington.
Even if you responded to the last Local Plan consultation, we urge you to respond again by the deadline of 17th May (e-mail email@example.com or write to SODC planning policy, 135 Eastern Avenue, Milton Park, Abingdon OX14 4SB).
John Cotton, the leader of SODC, in his foreward to the Local Plan states that ‘your response to the consultation is crucial’ and ‘it is our desire to let more of the decisions be made by communities for themselves.’
